WoW Classic Cooking Guide: Leveling from 1 to 300

Learning Cooking and Finding Trainers

To begin your cooking journey in WoW Classic, you need to find a cooking trainer. You can locate these trainers in the major cities of both the Horde and Alliance.

  • Horde: Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Silvermoon City, Undercity
  • Alliance: Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, The Exodar

Ask a guard in any of these cities where the cooking trainer is, and the trainer will be marked on your map[1][4].

Level 1-50

For the first 50 levels, you will be crafting simple dishes.

  • Horde: Craft [Charred Wolf Meat] using Stringy Wolf Meat, which can be obtained from wolf mobs. A good farming spot is just outside Thunder Bluff[4].
  • Alliance: Craft [Roasted Boar Meat] using Chunk of Boar Meat, which can be found on boar mobs in various forests. The farms south of Stormwind are a good spot[4].

Level 50-75

  • Both Factions: Use the recipe for [Long John Silver’s Mud Snappers], which can be obtained from any cooking vendor. These can be fished from lower-level bodies of water or bought cheaply from the auction house[4].

Level 75-100

  • Alliance: Farm [Crab Cakes] by killing sea creatures on the coast of Westfall. The recipe requires Crawler Meat and Mild Spices[1][4].
  • Horde: Alternatively, use [Boiled Clams] by farming Clam Meat from turtles or other sea creatures in areas like the Twilight Shore in Darkshore or Zoram Strand in Ashenvale[1][4].

Level 100-150

  • Alliance: Craft [Seasoned Wolf Kabobs] using Lean Wolf Flank and Stormwind Seasoning Herbs. The lean wolf flanks can be farmed from wolves in Ashenvale or Duskwood[4].
  • Horde: Craft [Big Bear Steak] using Big Bear Meat and Hot Spices. Big Bear Meat can be obtained from bears around Tarren Mill[4].

Level 150-225

  • Both Factions: Prepare materials such as Alterac Swiss (farmed from humanoid mobs or bought from the auction house), Giant Eggs (from level 14+ birds), and Zesty Clam Meats (from Big Mouth Clams in the Hinterlands)[4].
  • Quests: Complete quests to obtain higher-level recipes. For example, as Horde, pick up the quest from the cooking trainer in Orgrimmar, and as Alliance, from the trainer in Ironforge. These quests will lead you to Dirge Quikcleave, who will give you the follow-up quest “Clamlette Surprise”[4].

Level 225-275

  • Both Factions: Level with [Monster Omelets] and [Tender Wolf Steaks]. The Monster Omelet recipe requires Giant Eggs and Soothing Spices, while the Tender Wolf Steak recipe requires Tender Wolf Meat and Hot Spices. These materials can be farmed from the Blasted Lands by killing rocks and wolves[4].

Level 275-300

  • Both Factions: Complete the final stretch with [Smoked Desert Dumplings]. This recipe requires Sandworm Meat, which can be farmed from Dredge Strikers and Dredge Crushers in Silithus. You need to complete two quests in Silithus to obtain this recipe[1][4].
